Biomarkers
NTRK Fusion
Also known as: NTRK-positive, TRK fusion, Neurotrophic receptor kinase fusion
Definition
A rare gene fusion involving NTRK1, NTRK2, or NTRK3 genes, occurring across many cancer types and highly druggable.
Detailed Explanation
NTRK fusions are rare (<1% of most cancers) but occur at higher rates in secretory breast cancer, infantile fibrosarcoma, and some thyroid cancers. Pan-cancer biomarker: found in lung, colorectal, salivary gland, and many other cancers. Highly responsive to larotrectinib (Vitrakvi) and entrectinib (Rozlytrek) regardless of tumor type.
