Biomarker
CD30
Also known as: CD30 antigen, TNFRSF8
Definition
A cell membrane protein expressed on activated T and B cells, and highly expressed in Hodgkin lymphoma and some other lymphomas.
Detailed Explanation
CD30 is a member of the tumor necrosis factor receptor family. It's expressed on Reed-Sternberg cells in Hodgkin lymphoma and on malignant cells in anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL). ADCETRIS (brentuximab vedotin) is an antibody-drug conjugate that specifically targets CD30-positive cells, delivering a toxic payload directly to cancer cells.
